African Festival of the Arts in Chicago!!!

Every summer in August Chicago celebrates the African Arts. This year I got a chance to be behind the scenes. And let me tell you, it was a blast!!!

As I first walked in into the fest I immediately smelled the wonderful flavors of the African countries. For the first time I tried Puff Puff, which is an African dessert that reminds me of a donut hole , very deliscious. And of course I had Jerk Chicken and Plantain from another booth I loved every bite. I quickly got back to my mission on covering the rest of the fest.

While there I had to spot out the many different hairstyles and hair products. Women were rocking their beautiful locks in so many ways. I saw twists, afros, and braids. The women's hair were absolutely beautiful, there was an abundant amount of hair products of course that contained natural ingredients. One product that caught my eye, is called Adiva from a lady in Philadelphia, I purchased a leave-in conditioner that has a scent of Lemongrass which I found very relaxing. The conditioner has done very well for my natural hair clients, has a nice shine to it and does not weigh hair down. For more info about this product please visit her website www.adivanatural.com

The next thing that caught my eye was all the beautiful clothes, and jewelry. The fest is split up in different sections each section is made up of Eastern, Western, Southern, and Northern Countries. Its hard to visit all the booths which is why it's for 3 days. It took me 2 full days to cover most of everything. From Paintings to music to the dances, and lets not forget of course the entertainment this year we had gospel singer Vashwan Mitchell and R&B recording artist Lyfe Jennings, it was Africa being brought to the SouthSide of Chicago.

Hope to see you there next year!!!!!
